He served as a Professor of Neurology and Neurotherapeutics and Ophthalmology and held the Irene Wadel and Robert Atha Jr. Distinguished Chair in Neurology, the Kenney Marie Dixon-Pickens Distinguished Professorship in Multiple Sclerosis Research, and the Cain Foundation Endowment for Multiple Sclerosis Research.
