Dr. Heinz Eichenwald was the Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics from 1964 to 1982 and subsequently remained on the faculty to teach medical students and postdoctoral fellows. He retired in 2006 as professor emeritus. He received the Von Humboldt Prize of the West German Republic in 1979. He later co-edited 'Practical Pediatric Therapy', which was the first European/American medical textbook released in multiple languages.
