Opened in 1974, at the same time as the buildings which surround it, the Eugene McDermott Plaza is the open-air architectural center of UT Southwestern's South Campus. In this view, taken after the plaza's remodeling in 1988, the 12-story McDermott Building is seen at the left and the Tom and Lula Gooch Auditorium is seen at the right. The late Eugene McDermott and his family have been generous benefactors of UT Southwestern for many years.
