Dr. Thomas C. Sudhof was an adjunct professor of neuroscience and former chairman of the department at UT Southwestern. Since 2008, he has been at Stanford University School of Medicine. In 2013, Dr. Sudhof was one of three scientists awarded the Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine for their discoveries of key information about how cellular transport systems work. He began his career at UT Southwestern in 1983 as a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratories of Michael Brown and Joseph Goldstein. Dr. Sudhof started his own laboratory at UT Southwestern in 1986. In 2002, he was honored with election to the National Academy of Sciences, and in 2007, the Institute of Medicine.
