The space shuttle orbiter Columbia carried SpaceLab Life Sciences Lab 2 into space from October-November 1993 where it performed a total of 14 experiments. For this mission, Lynda Lane participated as a Co-Investigator and a Project Coordinator with Dr. Gunnar Blomqvist (the Principal Investigator) on Experiment 294, 'Cardiovascular Adaption to Microgravity.' In preparation for a previous NASA mission, Lane participated in pre-flight exercises as a Clinical Nurse Specialist on board NASA's reduced gravity plane in 1988. Lane worked at UT Southwestern as a Senior Research Scientist from 1980-1996. In 1996, Lane moved to Vanderbilt University. She is now a Retired Faculty member and Senior Associate in Medicine at Vanderbilt University.
