Dr. Morton F. Mason was an internationally-recognized forensic toxicologist. He joined the faculty of Southwestern Medical College in 1944 as a Professor of Pathological Chemistry and Experimental Medicine and as a chemist at Parkland Hospital. At the same time, he was appointed Toxicologist of the City and County of Dallas. In 1956, he became the founding director of the Dallas City-County Criminal Investigation Laboratory. He remained as a professor at Southwestern until the late 1970s and was Professor Emeritus until the mid-1980s.
