Zale Lipshy University Hospital opened in 1989 with state-of-the-art operating rooms. Laparoscopic surgeries are performed via several tiny holes rather than one long incision, reducing post-operative pain and recovery times. In addition to the tools to perform the surgery, the laparoscope device includes a tiny camera and light source which allows the surgeon to view the interior of the body on television monitors while operating.
