Dr. John S. Chapman joined the Southwestern Medical School faculty in 1945 as a part-time Internal Medicine faculty member. He was a full-time faculty member from 1952 to 1985, when he became a Professor Emeritus of Internal Medicine. In 1976, he published the definitive history of medical education in Dallas between the years 1900 and 1975. The book is titled, 'The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School: Medical Education in Dallas, 1900-1975.' About three-quarters of the text is devoted to Southwestern Medical School.
