This photo was taken at the ceremony dedicating Parkland Memorial Hospital's high-risk pregnancy unit to Dr. Peggy J. Whalley. Standing beside Dr. Whalley is Dr. Norman F. Gant. The bronze plaque reads, 'HIGH RISK PREGNANCY UNIT, Parkland Memorial Hospital. This Unit is dedicated to PEGGY JOYCE WHALLEY, M.D., who was a pioneer in the concept of high-risk pregnancy hospital care which was one of the first of its kind in the United States. With Dr. Whalley's guidance, more than 10,000 women with an unimaginable variety of complications have been managed in this Unit, affectionately known as 'Peggy's Palace' since its inception in 1971 and until her retirement. 1st of September, 1988.'
