Biographical Note
In 1995, Donna and Carrol Janis, daughter and son-in-law of Donald and the late Muriel Seldin, gave the mixed-media print titled 'The Fountain' by artist Frank Stella, to UT Southwestern in honor of Dr. and Mrs. Seldin. The print, 27 feet long by 7 feet high, was installed on a wall designed and constructed for it, on the lower level of the Eugene McDermott Plaza. Dr. Seldin joined the Southwestern Medical School faculty in 1951 and became Chairman of Internal Medicine the next year. Over the following 36 years, until his retirement in 1988, he gathered a brilliant faculty and garnered innumerable teaching awards. In 2007, Southwestern Medical School honored him by naming one of its six newly-created colleges in his honor.
