There he conducted experiments in Spacelab, the shuttle's scientific laboratory, dedicated on this flight to the study of the nervous system in space. At UT Southwestern, Dr. Buckey was a research associate in UT Southwestern's Space Medicine Laboratory, headed by Dr. C. Gunnar Blomqvist (sometimes spelled "Blomquist"). On the flight with Buckey was another NASA payload specialist with UT Southwestern connections: James A.
