Dr. Charles Ashworth received his medical degree from Baylor University College of Medicine in 1938. After an internship at the Baltimore City Hospitals, Dr. Ashworth returned to Baylor to study with Dallas pathologist George Caldwell, M.D. In 1940, Ashworth became an instructor in the Department of Pathology at Baylor. In 1943, he joined the faculty of the newly formed Southwestern Medical College until 1949, when he went into private practice in Fort Worth for eight years. In 1957, Dr. Ashworth returned to UT Southwestern and served as Chair of the Department of Pathology from 1957 to 1966. In 1968, Dr. Ashworth founded AM Laboratories, where he continued his career in the private practice of pathology until his death in 1985.
