A panel discussion entitled "Women in the University System" was presented as part of the Women in Science and Medicine celebration held on campus in November 1975. The discussion, which was moderated by Bettie Sue Masters, Ph.D., associate professor of Biochemistry, included the following panelists: Regina Kyle, Ph.D., executive dean, University of Texas at Dallas; Betty Maynard, Ph.D., associate dean, Southern Methodist University; Maria Vellios, district counsel, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission of Dallas; Gladys Fashena, M.D., professor of Pediatrics; Kathryn Taubert, Ph.D., instructor in Physiology; and Joyce Potts, Pediatrics research technician. November 1975 was named the month for Women in Science and Medicine as part of International Women's Year, the name given to 1975 by the United Nations.
