Description

The Ho Din Award is a prestigious honor bestowed annually on one or two outstanding seniors of Southwestern Medical School. First awarded in 1943, it was instituted by the Southwestern Medical Foundation to recognize those who have the "inherent personal attributes embodied in all great physicians." Ho Din is an acronym representing the Greek phrase "the spirit of medical wisdom." In special circumstances it may be awarded to faculty members or administrators who have exemplified the spirit of Ho Din through their service to humanity. The award includes a certificate, a pendant (a sketch of which is seen in the drawing), and $7,500.
