Dr. Norman Kaplan (1931-2020), Professor of Internal Medicine, joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 1961. Dr. Kaplan's teaching, writing, and research focused primarily on the clinical aspects of hypertension. He served as the host for two Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) television series -- "Here's to Your Health" and "Life Matters" -- that aired on the Dallas PBS station KERA in the late-1970s and 1980s. The 11th edition of his textbook, "Kaplan's Clinical Hypertension", was published in 2015. He graduated from Southwestern Medical School in 1954.
