Dr. Daniel W. Foster graduated from Southwestern Medical School in 1955 and joined the faculty in 1962. In the 1970s, he hosted a nationally televised program on KERA-TV, the Dallas station of the Public Broadcasting Service, which aired weekly and presented medical information for a non-medical audience. He served as Chairman of the Internal Medicine Department from 1988 to 2003. His research has focused on the intermediary metabolism of carbohydrates and lipids. Dr. Foster was for many years the co-editor (with J. D. Wilson) of the widely-used "Williams Textbook of Endocrinology." He was elected to the prestigious Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences in 1989. This photo appeared in the 1963 medical school yearbook, "Iatros."
