Dr. John C. Vanatta III taught in the Department of Physiology for fifty years, from his arrival in 1947 to his semi-retirement in 1997. He earned numerous awards, including UT Southwestern Outstanding Teacher in 1986. In 2007, he was named an Ashbel Smith Professor, one of the highest honors bestowed by the UT System Board of Regents. This photo appeared in the 1963 medical school yearbook, "Iatros."
