Description

Judith Head is an Associate Professor of Cell Biology and Obstetrics & Gynecology. She received her Ph.D. from the Department of Cell Biology at UT Southwestern in 1975, and joined the faculty of that department in 1977. Her work under Dr. Rupert Billingham and Dr. Alan Beer focused on issues related to the acceptance by the mother’s body of the fetal-maternal unit as a “transplant”. In this photo, she is holding a group of baby rats that were being used in a study on the immune effects of lactation.
