Description

Southwestern Medical School's first building on its Harry Hines Blvd. campus is shown in the foreground under construction. In the distance, Parkland Memorial Hospital is also under construction. Parkland was finished in 1954, and the Cary Building in 1955. The Cary Building was originally called the Basic Science Hall. In 1960, Edward H. Cary's name was added, to honor his role as the driving force behind the founding of the medical school. This photo is dated August 3, 1953.
