Description
Southwestern Medical School began a major expansion of its campus facilities in May of 1971. In this aerial view, dating from about March of 1974, the medical school campus is in the foreground with Parkland Memorial Hospital and Children's Medical Center of Dallas beyond. Construction of the expanded campus is almost complete. Work continues on the upper level of the McDermott Plaza, in front of the Florence Building. In November, 1972, while the construction was in progress, the campus was reorganized to include three schools: Southwestern Medical School, the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, and the School of Allied Health Sciences, and was renamed The University of Texas Health Science Center at Dallas.
