Description

Dr. Donald W. Seldin joined the Southwestern Medical School faculty in 1951, and the next year became Professor and Chairman of Internal Medicine. He led the department of Internal Medicine for 36 years and was instrumental in building Southwestern into the institution it is today. He recruited distinguished physicians and researchers to the campus and guided the development of the brightest of his own students into brilliant Southwestern Medical School faculty. This photo was taken at a celebration of his 10th anniversary as Chairman of Internal Medicine. He stands in front of a "10th Anniversary" poster. In 2007, Southwestern honored him by naming one of its newly-created colleges in his honor.
