Description

This circa 1995 photo shows St. Paul Hospital (as it was known in 1995) on Harry Hines Blvd. Founded in 1896 by the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent De Paul, St. Paul moved from its Bryan Street location to its new building on Harry Hines Blvd. in 1964. In 2000, UT Southwestern purchased the physical assets (buildings, contents and 26 acres of land). The buildings were leased to University Medical Center, which also operated Zale Lipshy Hospital at that time. UT Southwestern took over the operation of St. Paul and Zale Lipshy Hospitals on January 1, 2005, adding "University Hospital" to their names. This photo can be dated to circa 1995 because it shows the Campus Connector, completed in 1993, but the sign on the building does not yet reflect the University Hospital name.
