The first campus of Southwestern Medical College was constructed in 1943 of prefabricated plywood buildings (often called "the shacks") located along Oak Lawn Avenue behind Parkland Hospital. This view shows several of "the shacks." Parkland Hospital is at the right, largely obscured by trees. The sign on the gable of one building reads, "Temporary Quarters, Southwestern Medical College."
