Description

Training physicians for World War II battlefields was an important early mission of Southwestern Medical College. All male students were required to be in the military, due to the nation being at war. This photo was digitized from the 1944 College yearbook ("Caduceus"). The photo shows an inspection of the senior male students by a commanding officer. The campus' prefabricated plywood buildings (often called "the shacks") are seen in the background. Parkland Hospital is visible at the right edge of the photo.
