The Cary Building (completed in 1955) was the first building on Southwestern Medical School's Harry Hines Blvd. campus. Prominent Dallas architect Mark Lemmon was the consulting architect. Originally called the Basic Science Building, in 1960 Edward H. Cary's name was added to honor his role as the driving force behind the founding of the medical school.
