The dedication of the Hoblitzelle Building took place on April 16, 1959. Seated on the speaker's platform are (left to right): unidentified, Dr. Melvin Carberg, Bishop Gorman, Senator William Blakely, Dean Atticus J. Gill, Mr. Harold B. Sanders, Mr. Karl Hoblitzelle, Mr. Fred Florence and Rabbi Olan. Although originally called the Clinical Science Building, less than one year after its dedication it was renamed in honor of Karl Hoblitzelle, a member of the Southwestern Medical Foundation Board of Trustees and a donor to Southwestern Medical School.
