Description

In 1974, after three years of construction, the University of Texas Health Science Center at Dallas (UTHSCD) moved into this group of new buildings surrounding an open plaza. The tall building on the left is the McDermott Administration Building. In 1972, while construction was in progress, the campus reorganized as UTHSCD, and Southwestern Medical School became one component of the Health Science Center, along with a Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences and a School of Allied Health Sciences. (In 1987, the name of the campus was changed to "University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas," to reflect its origins as Southwestern Medical School.)
