Dr. Carol A. Tamminga is Professor and Chair of the Department of Psychiatry, Vice Chair for Clinical Research, and Chief of Translational Neuroscience Research in Schizophrenia. She holds the McKenzie Foundation Chair in Psychiatry I, the Lou and Ellen McGinley Distinguished Chair in Psychiatric Research, and the Communities Foundation of Texas Chair in Brain Science. Her research and clinical work is focused on schizophrenia, both understanding the disease mechanisms and developing improved treatments. She was elected to the prestigious Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences in 1998.
