The book "Selected Recollections of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, Dallas, Texas" was compiled by George J. Race, M.D., Ph.D. (1926-2013), Professor Emeritus of Pathology and Associate Dean Emeritus for Continuing Education, to celebrate the first 50 years of UT Southwestern, which had its origins in Southwestern Medical College, opened in 1943. As the title implies, this book is a collection of essays recalling the early years of the medical school, which were written mostly by members of the faculty. It was published in 1997 by the UT Southwestern Student and Alumni Affairs Office.
