The dedication of the Hoblitzelle Building took place on April 16, 1959. This photo shows Fred F. Florence and Southwestern Medical School Dean Atticus J. Gill on the speaker's platform. Although first called the Clinical Science Building, less than one year after its dedication the building was renamed in honor of Karl Hoblitzelle, a member of the Southwestern Medical Foundation Board of Trustees and donor to the Southwestern Medical Foundation. Fred F. Florence, also a member of the Southwestern Medical Foundation Board of Trustees, would later have the Florence Bioinformation Center (opened in 1974) named in his honor.
