Sprague, Dean of Southwestern Medical School at the time of this photo (circa 1968). In 1972, when the school was reorganized as the University of Texas Health Science Center at Dallas, an academic medical center with three schools (medical, graduate biomedical sciences, and allied health sciences), Dr. Sprague became the first President. He served in that role until his retirement in 1986.
