The reputation of the Department of Neurological Surgery and its chairman -- Duke Samson, M.D. -- brings a large number of referral patients to UT Southwestern from across the Southwest and around the world. In this lecture, Dr. Samson will present a variety of the group's clinical work, featuring recorded patient interviews and intraoperative videos demonstrating the surgical management of brain and spinal-cord tumors, central nervous system trauma, movement disorders, and blood-vessel malformations of the brain. Featured patients include an Indianapolis 500 driver and a person with epilepsy who underwent surgery while awake.
