The book "UT Southwestern: Commemorating the First Half-Century" was compiled by George J. Race, M.D., Ph.D. (1926-2013), Professor Emeritus of Pathology and Associate Dean Emeritus for Continuing Education, to celebrate the first 50 years of UT Southwestern, which had its origin in Southwestern Medical College, opened in 1943. The book consists primarily of photographs with explanatory captions. It was published in 1998 by the UT Southwestern Student and Alumni Affairs Office.
