Description

Dr. Gladys Fashena was the first faculty member in Pediatrics at Southwestern Medical College when it opened in 1943. She was a pioneer in pediatric cardiology, and became a full professor in 1949, teaching until her retirement in 1980. In this photo, she is demonstrating a procedure at a Van Slyke apparatus as Mrs. J. F. Hefron, President of the Baylor Auxiliary, looks on.
