The Florence building houses the UT Southwestern Library and a variety of clinical and administrative offices. The building is named for Fred F. Florence, who was a member of the Southwestern Medical Foundation board in the 1940s, when the Foundation was starting Southwestern Medical College, which opened in 1943.
