Description
In 1946 or earlier, this site on Harry Hines Blvd. was chosen as the location for the new Parkland Hospital, which would be completed in 1954. In 1946, Dallas philanthropist Karl Hoblitzelle donated an adjacent 62 acres of land to be used for a new campus for Southwestern Medical College (later called UT Southwestern Medical School). The medical school's first building on this site would be occupied in 1955.
