Dr. Ellen Vitetta and her B-cell receptor discovery team gathered for this group photo in 1978. Dr Vitetta is Professor in the UT Southwestern departments of Microbiology and Immunology, a distinguished researcher, and the recipient of many awards.The seated woman on the left, holding the stuffed rabbit named "30K", is Linda B. Buck. A graduate student in microbiology at the time of the photo, and a 1980 Ph.D. graduate of UT Southwestern, Dr. Buck would win the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2004 for her work on the olfactory system.
