Dr. Malcolm O. Perry was a 1955 graduate of Southwestern Medical School, who became a faculty member at UT Southwestern from 1962 to 1974, serving as professor and chief of Vascular Services. Dr. Perry was one of the first physicians to treat President John F. Kennedy when Kennedy arrived at Parkland Hospital after having been shot on November 22, 1963. After the shooting of Lee Harvey Oswald on November 24, 1963, Perry was one of the doctors who attempted to save Oswald’s life. Perry left UT Southwestern in 1974 but returned in 1996 and retired as a professor emeritus in 2000. Dr. Perry’s treatment of President Kennedy is described on page 62 of the January 1964 issue of Texas Medicine in the article “Three Patients at Parkland.”
