Description

In 1971, the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School began construction of five new buildings, which would be completed in 1974. In this 1972 photo, the basement level of the Florence Building is being built directly in front of the Cary Building. In November, 1972, while the construction was in progress, the former Southwestern Medical School campus was reorganized to include three schools: Southwestern Medical School, the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, and the School of Allied Health Sciences, and was renamed "The University of Texas Health Science Center at Dallas."
