Description

This photo shows the Pavillion Street side of St. Paul Sanitarium, as well as the back. Two changes to the building since it opened in 1898 are visible: the side porch has been rebuilt and roofed, and dormer windows have been added to the attic. The attic space created was probably where the nursing students had their attic dormitory, which is seen in another photo in this repository. In this era, it was common for nursing students to live in the hospital associated with the nursing school.
