Description

The Medical Arts Building, which opened in 1923 on the northwest corner of St. Paul and Pacific streets, was the first Dallas skyscraper to contain primarily offices for physicians and dentists. For many years it was the hub of medical activity in Dallas, and home of the Dallas County Medical Society. It was built by the Cary-Schneider Investment Company, which was headed by Edward H. Cary, M.D., the man who was the driving force behind the founding of Southwestern Medical School. After years with low occupancy rates, the building was demolished in 1977.
