Description

This is an aerial view of downtown Dallas in 1965. The eighteen-story Medical Arts Building, at one time the hub of medical activity in Dallas, is seen at left center between the flat-topped square skyscraper and the skyscraper with a clock tower topped by a steeple. With the 1964 move of St. Paul Hospital from Bryan and Hall streets downtown to the corner of Harry Hines and Inwood Boulevards, the focus of medical activity in Dallas began to move away from downtown, though Baylor University Medical Center remained near downtown. After years with low occupancy rates, the Medical Arts Building was demolished in 1977.
