Small wooden building that was the original St. Paul Hospital. There are three nuns standing off to the side of the building and there is a fence around the land.
St. Paul Sanitarium (renamed St. Paul Hospital in 1927) first opened in 1896 in this small wooden building on Hall Street. It was both hospital and home to the Daughters of Charity nursing sisters. This was the first private, not-for-profit hospital in Dallas and the first dedicated to care of the general public. Two years later St. Paul Sanitarium moved into a new brick building on Bryan Street.
