William F. Mengert, M.D., Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Southwestern Medical School, conducts a "ward class" in Parkland Hospital. Medical students, interns and/or residents accompany a physician on rounds in the ward to discuss the care of specific patients during a "ward class." Note the care that has been taken to conceal the identity of the patient: her face has been deliberately obscured in the photograph, presumably by the staff of the Southwestern Medical School's Department of Medical Art, which placed its identifying stamp on the back of the photograph.
