Description

Soldiers pose with nurses and Daughters of Charity sisters on the steps of the St. Paul Sanitarium on Bryan Street in 1918. These may have been soldiers who had recuperated from influenza at St. Paul, or they may have been men with a St. Paul connection who had joined the military and were leaving for the World War I battlefields of Europe. (Note: Although digitized from an original photograph in the UT Southwestern Archives, this image also appears with the caption "Soldiers bid farewell, 1918" in a 1971 memento booklet titled, "A Living Legend..1900-1971, St. Paul School of Nursing.")
