Description

In this photo, Daughters of Charity sisters pose on the lawn of St. Paul Sanitarium with two soldiers, one in front of an automobile. During the 1918 influenza epidemic, soldiers who became ill at Fort Dick (located on land that is now Dallas' Fair Park) were transferred to St. Paul Sanitarium for care. With all the hospital beds full, 45 tents were set up on the grounds of St. Paul to accommodate the soldiers.
