Dr. Paul Peters joined Southwestern Medical School in 1963. Dr. Peters served as Chairman of Urology for 22 years, from 1971 until his retirement in 1993. He set up the first kidney transplant program in Dallas, and his pioneering work in kidney transplantation helped lay the groundwork for the current success of multi-organ transplants. Dr. Peters was renowned as an excellent teacher. He was also one of the medical team that tried to save President John F. Kennedy after he was shot in Dallas.
