Dr. Luis Parada was a Professor and the Chairman of the Department of Developmental Biology at UT Southwestern and the Director of the Kent Waldrep Center for Basic Research on Nerve Growth and Regeneration. Kent Waldrep was paralyzed in 1974 while playing college football. He was the founder and president of the Kent Waldrep National Paralysis Foundation, which provides funding for nerve growth and regeneration studies at UT Southwestern's Kent Waldrep Center.
