Dr. Robert W. Haley is a Professor of Internal Medicine and the Director of the Division of Epidemiology in the Internal Medicine Department of UT Southwestern. He holds the U.S. Armed Forces Veterans Distinguished Chair for Medical Research honoring America's Gulf War Veterans.
Dr. Haley has conducted extensive research on the epidemiology and prevention of hospital-acquired infections. He is the author of the 1986 book 'Managing Hospital Infection Control for Cost-Effectiveness.'
Additionally, he has led ground-breaking research on the neuroscience and epidemiologic aspects of Gulf War Syndrome. The results of this research were published in three articles in the January 15, 1997, issue of Journal of the American Medical Association. In acknowledgement of the importance of his work on Gulf War Syndrome, the Congressional Medal of Honor Society presented Dr. Haley with its Patriot Award in 2005.
Dr. Haley is a 1971 graduate of Southwestern Medical School.
