A nineteen-month-old child's eyes widen as she hears her first sounds following cochlear-implant surgery performed by UT Southwestern otorhinolaryngologist Dr. Peter Roland. The child had been born deaf and her cochlear implant allowed her to hear for the first time. At the time, she was one of the youngest patients ever to receive a cochlear implant.
